If I enroll today, can I start the course today?
Once you enroll, we need up to 24 hours to set up your virtual Training Center environment. We will notify you by email once that environment is ready. You can access the tutorial videos immediately after enrollment, but you need the Training Center to perform the exercises.
How is the course completion date calculated?
Your course begins once we have told you the Training Center environment is ready for use, and you have 1 or 2 weeks to complete the course depending on which course you are taking.
How should I set up my learning environment?
Courses are made up of a series of video lessons and hands-on exercises ‘in the Cloud.’ We recommend that you set up your learning environment in one of these ways:
- Work with two monitors:
- Keep the Virtual Classroom open on one
- Keep the Cloud environment with the Magnitude Training Center open on the other
- Use two separate computers, one for the Virtual Classroom and one for the Training Center
How many times can I log into the video sessions or the Training Center each day?
You can start and stop as many times as you want.
How many times can I watch the video tutorials?
You can watch the videos as often as you want, even after your access to the Training Center is over. You have perpetual access to the tutorial videos.
Can I download the videos for future use?
Once you enroll, you have perpetual access to the online tutorial videos, so you don’t need to download them. In fact, it’s better if you don’t because you can always access the most up-to-date versions of the videos in the Virtual Classroom.
Does Magnitude provide any course materials?
Magnitude does not provide any printed materials. All course material is in the Virtual Classroom and is available once you enroll. Again, remember you have perpetual access to the tutorial videos.
How do I connect with a trainer? With other course participants?
The Training Center environment includes a chat tool you can use to communicate with a member of our team during the published support hours (Monday-Friday for all hours except between 5:00 pm and 10:30 pm Eastern). They can help with course-specific questions, exercises or technical issues. If you have questions that aren’t course-specific (e.g. questions about modeling best practices), we ask you to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org so we can determine the best person to help. We will reply to those types of questions within 24 hours. However, you cannot communicate with other course participants.
Can I take an export of the training model or a backup of the training database?
No, the training model and database are proprietary. They are there for you to use during the course, but taking a copy is in violation of your course terms and conditions.
Can I pay for 1 seat, but have two students sit at one screen and do the course together?
No, the course purchase price covers one individual participant. Successful completion of a course enables the registered student to contact Magnitude Support as long as the installation they are working on is up-to-date on maintenance.
Is there a discount for bulk purchases?
Bulk discounts are available for 5 or more students. Contact us for more information.
If I receive training vouchers for a course, do my vouchers ever expire?
Vouchers expire 1 year from the date of purchase.
How do I register multiple students?
Purchase the number of course enrollments you need. When we receive your order, we’ll send you an email asking for the names of each participant. They can start the course when they are ready. We just need 24 hours to set up the Training Center environment.
If I purchase multiple seats, do I need to register all students at the same time?
No, if you purchase multiple seats you will receive an email asking you to send us the names of the participants that would like to start immediately. As additional students are ready to begin the course, simply let us know and we will create their Training Center environment and enroll them into the Virtual Classroom.
If I register and pay today, can I postpone the start of my 2 weeks access to the Training Center until later?
If you purchase multiple seats, payment is handled immediately, but the course access doesn’t start until after you tell us each participant’s details (name, email, etc.). If you are buying a single seat and want to postpone the start date, please email email@example.com and
let us know not to create the environment yet. You’ll then need to email us again at least 24 hours before you want to begin the course. Be sure to include your Order Reference Number in the emails.
What technical issues do I need to consider before beginning the course?
Some customers have encountered issues where their corporate firewall has prevented them from accessing the Training Center using the Remote Desktop Connection. By default, the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) runs on TCP port 3389, which is blocked by some firewalls.
Alternatively, the Remote Desktop Connection can be established on TCP port 443. This port is usually used for HTTPS and should be accessible in most firewall configurations.
- To establish a Remote Desktop Connection using the default TCP port 3389, simply paste the machine name into the Remote Desktop Client.
- To establish a Remote Desktop Connection using TCP port 443, paste the machine name into the Remote Desktop Client then type
Check with your IT department to make sure one of the TCP target ports is available for outgoing connections.
