By Susan Welton, Sr.Mgr., Marketing and Creative Services at Noetix
Nowadays, at least in the high-tech industry, it’s pretty unusual to spend more than three to four years with any particular company. No doubt that’s because software developers are always striving to work on the latest innovative technology. Luckily for those of us fortunate enough to work for Noetix, our company embraces this drive to innovate. As I planned for the company’s 20-year anniversary celebration, pulling together materials I had saved over the years, I caught myself in awe of the rich history of Noetix.
Since the founding of the company in 1994, NoetixViews has been a rock solid product that has helped thousands of end users get the data they need from Oracle E-Business Suite. We hear the same feedback today from new customers that we heard 20 years ago: it simplifies reporting, saving customers considerable time and resources.
In 1996, Aris Software Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Aris Corporation, acquired Noetix. This was a pivotal point in the company’s history, as Noetix didn’t have the resources and funding to grow. Noetix was based in Beaverton, Oregon, jokingly referred to by one of the co-founders as the “Silicon Rainforest.”
With the support and financial backing of Aris, over the course of the next three years, the software division thrived. The number of NoetixViews customers went from 200 customers (reported in Aris Corporation’s 1997 Annual Report) to 500 customers in 1999! In that same year Noetix WebQuery was introduced and Aris Software Inc. acquired db-Centric, the baseline technology for Noetix QueryServer.
Poised for success, Aris Software Inc. spun off from the parent company in 2000 and took with it the Noetix name. I guess you could say I “spun off” as well. I started working for Aris in the early days, and when the opportunity to work for Noetix was presented I couldn’t pass it up.
Over the past 13 years, Noetix has continued to grow and prosper by making sound business moves, like the opening of the Noetix office in Hyderabad in 2004, the acquisition of Jaros Technologies Corporation in 2009, and the subsequent introduction of Noetix Analytics.
With the acquisition of Noetix by Silverback Enterprise Group in 2013, the future of Noetix is brighter than ever. Noetix has the financial backing to continue to innovate and do what we do best — connect people and data.
Having been a part of the Noetix history for 18 of the last 20 years has been a remarkable experience. I have had the pleasure of working with some really exceptional people. From personal experience, I can tell you the people behind the products and services we offer are an amazing group that put their heart and soul into what they do. Creativity abounds in the halls. I can’t imagine what lies ahead, but I hope you’ll be a part of the next 20 years.
