If I enroll today, can I start the course today?
Once you enroll, we need up to 24 hours to set up your virtual Training Center environment. We will notify you by email once that environment is ready. You can access the tutorial videos immediately after enrollment, but you need the Training Center to perform the exercises.

How is the course completion date calculated?
Your course begins once we have told you the Training Center environment is ready for use, and you have 1 or 2 weeks to complete the course depending on which course you are taking.

How should I set up my learning environment?
Courses are made up of a series of video lessons and hands-on exercises ‘in the Cloud.’ We recommend that you set up your learning environment in one of these ways:

  • Work with two monitors:
    • Keep the Virtual Classroom open on one
    • Keep the Cloud environment with the Magnitude Training Center open on the other
  • Use two separate computers, one for the Virtual Classroom and one for the Training Center

How many times can I log into the video sessions or the Training Center each day?
You can start and stop as many times as you want.

How many times can I watch the video tutorials?
You can watch the videos as often as you want, even after your access to the Training Center is over. You have perpetual access to the tutorial videos.

Can I download the videos for future use?
Once you enroll, you have perpetual access to the online tutorial videos, so you don’t need to download them. In fact, it’s better if you don’t because you can always access the most up-to-date versions of the videos in the Virtual Classroom.

Does Magnitude provide any course materials?
Magnitude does not provide any printed materials. All course material is in the Virtual Classroom and is available once you enroll. Again, remember you have perpetual access to the tutorial videos.

How do I connect with a trainer? With other course participants?
The Training Center environment includes a chat tool you can use to communicate with a member of our team during the published support hours (Monday-Friday for all hours except between 5:00 pm and 10:30 pm Eastern). They can help with course-specific questions, exercises or technical issues. If you have questions that aren’t course-specific (e.g. questions about modeling best practices), we ask you to send an email to training.support@magnitudesoftware.com so we can determine the best person to help. We will reply to those types of questions within 24 hours. However, you cannot communicate with other course participants.

Can I take an export of the training model or a backup of the training database?
No, the training model and database are proprietary. They are there for you to use during the course, but taking a copy is in violation of your course terms and conditions.

Can I pay for 1 seat, but have two students sit at one screen and do the course together?
No, the course purchase price covers one individual participant. Successful completion of a course enables the registered student to contact Magnitude Support as long as the installation they are working on is up-to-date on maintenance.

Is there a discount for bulk purchases?
Bulk discounts are available for 5 or more students. Contact us for more information.

If I receive training vouchers for a course, do my vouchers ever expire?
Vouchers expire 1 year from the date of purchase.

How do I register multiple students?
Purchase the number of course enrollments you need. When we receive your order, we’ll send you an email asking for the names of each participant. They can start the course when they are ready. We just need 24 hours to set up the Training Center environment.

If I purchase multiple seats, do I need to register all students at the same time?
No, if you purchase multiple seats you will receive an email asking you to send us the names of the participants that would like to start immediately. As additional students are ready to begin the course, simply let us know and we will create their Training Center environment and enroll them into the Virtual Classroom.

If I register and pay today, can I postpone the start of my 2 weeks access to the Training Center until later?
If you purchase multiple seats, payment is handled immediately, but the course access doesn’t start until after you tell us each participant’s details (name, email, etc.). If you are buying a single seat and want to postpone the start date, please email training.support@magnitudesoftware.com and
let us know not to create the environment yet. You’ll then need to email us again at least 24 hours before you want to begin the course. Be sure to include your Order Reference Number in the emails.

What technical issues do I need to consider before beginning the course?
Some customers have encountered issues where their corporate firewall has prevented them from accessing the Training Center using the Remote Desktop Connection. By default, the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) runs on TCP port 3389, which is blocked by some firewalls.
Alternatively, the Remote Desktop Connection can be established on TCP port 443. This port is usually used for HTTPS and should be accessible in most firewall configurations.

  • To establish a Remote Desktop Connection using the default TCP port 3389, simply paste the machine name into the Remote Desktop Client.
    • Example:ecx-aa-bb-cc-dd.compute-1.amazonaws.com
  • To establish a Remote Desktop Connection using TCP port 443, paste the machine name into the Remote Desktop Client then type :443.
    • Example:ecx-aa-bb-cc-dd.compute-1.amazonaws.com:443

Check with your IT department to make sure one of the TCP target ports is available for outgoing connections.

In September 2014, Chris successfully secured up to $100 million in capital to further build Magnitude Software through product innovation, organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

Ney was previously Co-Founder and President of Silverback Enterprise Group, where the team completed the strategic acquisition of nine industry-leading enterprise software companies and leveraged their synergies to build two powerful new entities: Magnitude Software and Upland Software. Magnitude Software offers a family of award-winning solutions for enterprise performance management, master data management and data connectivity. Upland Software (Nasdaq: UPLD) went public in late 2014 and is a leading provider of cloud-based enterprise work management software with over 2,000 active enterprise customers and more than 235,000 active users in more than 50 countries.

Prior to co-founding Silverback, Ney was CEO of a series of Trilogy/Versata portfolio software companies. With more than 30 years of experience launching, operating and growing profitable technology companies, Lou ensures cohesiveness across all Magnitude Software functions, creating and implementing the operational strategy for the company’s growth. Lou is critical to the success of Magnitude’s product strategy and to integrating acquired and existing products, which serves as a growth multiplier.

Lou has held leadership roles at several privately funded companies, four of which led to successful exits. He was CEO of Scribe Software, a data integration solutions company, and WebDialogs, a SaaS-based web conferencing provider acquired by IBM. At IBM, Lou served as Director of Strategy and Operations for Online Collaboration Services within IBM Software Group. He began his career in sales at Xerox.

Lou holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire.

Kevin Mischnick

Senior Vice President,
Finance and Accounting

Kevin oversees global financial operations for Magnitude Software.

Bringing more than 25 years of financial experience to Magnitude Software, Kevin is responsible for a number of areas of the business, including Finance, Accounting, Legal and Information Technology.

Kevin’s background includes building and transforming financial teams into high-performing units, implementing systems and processes focused on cost savings and efficiency, and raising nearly $100 million in investor capital. He served as Senior Vice President of Finance for Multimedia Games Inc. and Capstar Broadcasting Corporation. Under his financial leadership, the market values of both companies increased more than tenfold.

Kevin is a certified public accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech University.

Tony Fisher

General Manager of Connectivity

Tony leads Magnitude’s Connectivity business, driving strategy, growth, product and operations as well as leveraging and integrating our Simba-based technologies for new Magnitude solutions.

An accomplished data management and big data marketplace leader, Tony previously served as the SVP, Business Development & Strategy at Zaloni, an award-winning enterprise data lakes management provider; prior to that role, he was Vice President, Data Collaboration & Integration at Progress Software, where he led the business line’s strategic direction and operations.

Prior to Progress, Tony was the CEO of Dataflux Corporation. He also served as Director of data warehouse technology at SAS. A key technology leader at SAS, Tony provided the engineering research and development direction that helped make SAS the market leader in data warehouse software sales.

Tony earned a Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Duke University.

Darren Peirce

Darren drives Magnitude Software’s technology direction and product delivery.

With responsibility for identifying the nexus of market opportunity, technology innovation and Magnitude’s current and future portfolio, Darren oversees Product Management, Product Delivery and Engineering Services while developing and maturing key partnerships with leading technology companies in support of product strategy.

Previously, Darren served as CTO and Group Vice President of Product Management at Kalido; prior to that role, he was the Lead Solutions Architect and Manager of Professional Services in the United Kingdom. He has also worked in senior consulting positions for companies such as Royal Dutch Shell and British Telecom.

Darren received a degree in Management from Intec College in Cape Town, South Africa, and studied Economics at the University of Stellenbosch.

Susie leads Magnitude Software’s global human resources strategy and operational execution.

Susie is a seasoned business leader with more than 25 years of human resources management and recruitment experience at technology companies. At Magnitude, she focuses on building business success through people success across all related disciplines, including talent acquisition, development and retention; compensation and benefits; and all people-related aspects of acquisition integration. She has expertise in HR management and operations and in strategic HR business partnership at rapid-growth, start-up and established high-tech companies with significant M&A activity.

During her career, Susie led HR and Recruitment in the U.S. and China as Vice President and Director of Human Resources at Appconomy. As Vice President of Human Resources and Chief People Officer at Moxie Software/nGenera she oversaw international employee growth. She also served as Vice President of Human Resources and Recruiting at Surgient Networks and worked as an independent strategic HR consultant within the technology industry.

Susie holds a Bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and a Master’s degree from Rice University.

Mihir Shah

Mihir is responsible for Magnitude Software’s acquisition and organic strategy.

Mihir has over a decade of experience leading acquisitions and strategy. During this period, he led several public and private company acquisitions, divestitures, and minority and majority equity investments.

Previously, Mihir was M&A Executive for IBM’s Information Management Software division, executing IBM’s inorganic strategy through M&A and strategic partnerships. He also served as Operating Executive for private equity firm, Golden Gate Capital, and as Vice President for Corporate Development at Aspect Software.

Mihir holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Master of Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Amyn Rajan

General Manager,
Connectivity Solutions

Amyn is responsible for leading and growing Magnitude Software’s connectivity solutions business.

Amyn joins Magnitude Software with more than 25 years of experience, including as CEO of Simba Technologies, acquired by Magnitude in 2016. His responsibilities include working with strategic partners and driving product vision along with delivering revenue growth for the company’s data connectivity solutions.

Under Amyn’s leadership, Simba became a global leader in cross-platform, standards-based data access solutions for relational, multi-dimensional and non-relational data sources whose software is embedded by Amazon, Microsoft, SAP and Teradata. Prior to Simba he was CEO of Orbital Technologies, whose customers included Adobe and Microsoft; he also held the position of Vice President of Engineering at Orbital. Amyn’s background includes experience as a software developer at Microsoft and Adobe.

Amyn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Simon Fraser University. He was appointed co-chair of the Faculty of Applied Sciences External Advisory Council at Simon Fraser University in 2011, and was named to Business in Vancouver magazine’s “Forty Under 40” in 2007.

Karen McPhillips

Karen McPhillips drives marketing strategy and operational execution to grow the company profile, revenue and market position.

Leveraging 20+ years of transformational marketing experience, Karen fuels Magnitude’s corporate and existing portfolio marketing, collaborating to maximize the company’s business strategy while also supporting integration of acquired products and services.

Karen has served on leadership teams of public and private companies of all sizes, transforming marketing functions and generating both tangible and intangible value. Most recently at PlumChoice, she and her team repositioned the brand and metamorphosed the marketing function in support of the company’s pivot from IT support provider to leader in the cloud services and Internet of Things spaces. At Iron Mountain and its technology arm, Iron Mountain Digital, she created new marketing functions, introduced the marketing operations discipline, and spearheaded a closed-loop leads-to-revenue framework coupled with a brand-to-demand communication platform that raised the bar on marketing’s revenue influence. Prior to Iron Mountain, Karen held marketing leadership roles with SaaS back-up leader, Connected Corporation (acquired by Iron Mountain), and SilverStream Software, contributing to the company’s IPO and acquisition by Novell.

Karen earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from St. Michael’s College in Vermont.
